This Sunday in Helena, Montana, I took the afternoon off from running weekend errands, cleaning the house and encouraging the kids to get their homework done. I took an afternoon to enjoy Helena and it was wonderful to hang-out and be reminded of why Helena, Montana is so special.
Our afternoon started with the Grandstreet Theatre’s Sunday matinee performance of the The Addams Family. I brought my entire family to see the Addams Family and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. My boys’ favorite was Pugsley Addams because he’s a middle-school student and they were pretty impressed with how talented a kid could be. My mom thought Wednesday Addams stole the show. I loved Alice Beineke – she spoke in rhymes – a little like me – yikes! My husband got a kcik out of Uncle Fester. All the talented Grandstreet actors truly put on a wonderful performance. Really, truly, do NOT miss this show!
After our wonderful threatre experience, we headed over to the Blackfoot River Brewery, where the adults enjoyed a glass of delicious, seasonal Oktoberfest. The boys patiently enjoyed their popcorn before we headed over to Taco del Sol.
When we got to Taco del Sol, we were able to pick out some of the Addmas Family cast members enjoying their fish tacos. We sat down, watched people stroll the walking mall with their pets and enjoyed a delicious meal where nobody had to cook or clean-up. If you’ve got a family who is always eating, I imagine you can understand how enjoyable going out to eat can be.
After our dinner, we walked a little further down the walking mall to the Big Dipper. Their pumpkin pie ice cream is an absolutely must. It’s one of the Big Dipper’s specials so I’m not sure how long it will be on the menu, but it was delicious and the two high school boys working there offered up truyly stellar customer service.
The highlight of the day was certainly the performance of The Addams Family at Grandstreet and I think the rest of our afternoon was so enjoyable because of the tone the musical set. Fun, enjoyable, entertaining.
Hope to see you soon in Helena!
