This week I had the pleasure of attending the Montana Office of Tourism’s Governor’s Conference on Tourism. It’s always fun to catch up and compare notes with other communities in Montana. I learned about the Dragon Boat Races in Kalispell, a proposed convention center for Bozeman and branding strategies in Billings.
Better yet, Helena also got a chance to brag. The Helena Tourism Alliance’s Community Outreach Director, Pat Doyle, and I were invited to present at the conference on Helena’s geocaching and mountain biking development. I traditionally find public speaking very easy, but I must admit that it’s quite nerve-racking to go in front of a group of your peers to share.
While Pat got to share Helena’s International Mountain Biking Association’s Rider Center designation for Helena, I got to speak about Helena’s work on the GeoTour and the #1 Town for Geocaching from Rand McNally and Geocaching.com. Pat and I also had a booth at the event where we were able to speak to many people about our programming.
It’s was fun to impress our counterparts in the tourism industry. But, it would be better to get a chance to impress you, our potential visitor. Helena is your destination between Yellowstone & Glacier National Parks. We are Montana’s capital city. We are a recognized mountain biking destination. We are the #1 Geocaching location. We are small with a population of about 30,000. We are ready to help make your vacation an experience to remember.
Email me at [email protected] with your address and we’ll get you a visitor’s guide or any special requests you may have. I can’t wait to host you here!
