It’s hard not to think that every time of year in Montana is the best time of year. Each season brings something that I truly look forward to. Right now, the Helena evenings are cool and the sun is setting earlier (8:45 instead of 10:30). The Elkhorn Mountains have a thin blanket of snow. My house is filled with essence of canning pickles, zucchini, beets and anything else I can get my hands on.
With my kids headed off to school this morning, I’m regretting that we didn’t fit more Montana fun into the summer. This time of year offers perfect temperatures and sunny skies, an ideal combination for exploring the Big Sky. This is the time of year that visitors without children or families who homeschool need to take advantage of Montana.
Most summer tourism attractions are still in operation but have a little more limited times of operation because the amount of demand has lessened. Here in Helena, it’s not too late to enjoy the Gates of the Mountains Boat Tour or the Last Chance Tour Train.
One of my other favorite fall attractions in the Helena area is Tizer Botanic Gardens & Arboretum. The gardens are just beginning to change and the brilliant colors of fall set the stage for this high elevation garden. Tizer Gardens is the perfect place to take a walk and enjoy a picnic. They are open daily from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm until the end of September.
Helena’s 75+ miles of trails extending right from town offer visitors a beautiful area to explore and “Get Lost” with the quaint capital of Montana in the background.
So, if you’re looking for a genuine Montana scene and can break away from your real life in September, Helena awaits you. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions about the area that I can help with.
