Helena’s 150 Birthday Brewfest – What are your top five beer choices?

Helena Montana's 150 Birthday Brew Fest

Helena Montana’s 150 Birthday Brew Fest

Who doesn’t love a good list!?  Here at the Tourism Alliance we are looking forward Helena’s 150 Birthday Brewfest. With 77 beers to choose from, there’s no way we’re going to be able to try them all so we’ve made our list of top five beers that we’re going to be sure to sample Saturday, August 16 from 3-9 pm at Helena’s Memorial Park.

Pat – Being that it’s summer, Pat is game for seasonal beers.  He likes lagers and ales.  A tried and true IPA is always Pat’s standby.  Pat’s list is influenced by brewery location and he has tried selecting beers that he cannot get in Helena. Pat’s top five to try:

  • Irish Cream Ale – Outlaw Brewing – Belgrade, MT
  • Redheaded IPA – Beaver Creek Brewery – Wibaux, MT
  • Two Ski Brewski – Kalispell Brewing Company – Kalispell, MT
  • Duckface IPA – Triple Dog Brewing, Havre, MT
  • Alpenglow – Lolo Peak Brewing Co., Lolo, MT

Caroline – As a former brewery employee, Caroline (our summer intern) tries A LOT of beers.  Caroline can honestly say she’s never met a beer style she doesn’t like.  She enjoys seasonal and is looking forward to the outside venue of the Brewfest. Caroline’s top five to try:

  • Blue Jay White IPA – Tamarack Brewing Company – Lakeside, MT
  • Saison D’Etre – Neptune’s Brewery – Livingston, MT
  • Dam Fog – Mighty Mo Brewing Co. – Great Falls, MT
  • Organic Bodacious Bock – Wildwood Brewing – Stevensville, MT
  • Flint Creek Common – Phillipsburg Brewing Company – Phillipsburg, MT

Heidi – Dark, dark, dark.  Lagers, stouts and an occasional amber usually make her list.  A California Common will always top any other option.  Heidi also picked two local brews in celebration of Helena’s 150 years. Heidi’s top five to try:

  • Mountain Man – The Front Brewing Company – Great Falls, MT
  • Flint Creek Common – Phillipsburg Brewing Company – Phillipsburg, MT
  • Black Bison Stout – Bowser Brewing Company – Great Falls, MT
  • Four Georgians Session Pale – Lewis & Clark – Helena, MT
  • 1864 Old Ale – Blackfoot River Brewing Company – Helena, MT

Here’s a link to the complete list on the Montana Brewer’s Association site. What are your top five? We want to know.  Post here in the comments section and we’ll all compare tomorrow at Helena’s 150th Birthday Brewfest.
