Here at the Visit Helena Montana Visitor Information Center (105 Reeder’s Alley) our staff and group of volunteers cannot wait to help you out as you look to make the most of your vacation.
We have a large selection of brochures specific to Helena attractions. Maps of the state, the city and of Montana’s National Parks available as well. Located in Historic Reeder’s Alley built in the late 1800s as lodging for single miners.
Right next door to the Visitor Information Center is the The Pioneer Cabin in Reeder’s Alley will be open during visitor center hours for you to peak into on your own. We offer guided tours most Monday-Thursday from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

Helena Area Trail Maps Available for Rental and Purchase at the Reeder’s Alley Visitors Center.
Located in Downtown Helena near the base of Mount Helena. We offer free parking and invite RVs to utilize the angel parking on the west side of South Park Avenue.
Historic Reeder's Alley & The Pioneer Cabin
Historic Reeder's Alley
A Pennsylvania brick mason, Louis Reeder, came to Last Chance Camp (later renamed Helena) to make his fortune by building lodging for the single miners in the area. Historic Reeder's Alley offers visitors a glimpse into the past. The buildings date back to the late 1800s and are in their original location. Stroll the Alley and read the intrepretive signs to learn more about this Gold Rush Camp. You can also downtown this brochure on Reeder's Alley.
Pioneer Cabin – Tour Helena’s Oldest Documented Dwelling
The Pioneer Cabin is OPEN in June, July and August. You can peak into the Pioneer Cabin Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm. Most Mondays-Thursdays you can also get a free tour of the cabin from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
Helena’s historic Pioneer Cabin is right next door to the Visit Helena Montana Visitors Information Center at 105 Reeder’s Alley. See history, get info!
Pictured here is Shirley (with her granddaughter) in period costume. She is one of the volunteers who gives tours of the cabin.
