Holiday Gift Giving: Locally Made

Traveling & Shopping Local

This weekend, local Montana artists came together for Helena’s first-annual holiday MADE fair. The ULTIMATE celebration of local and regional artists and makers, this fair offered a variety of options for the diverse individuals on your holiday shopping list.

More often than not, locally hand-made gifts end up meaning more to my gift receivers. Not only do I feel better supporting local, small business, but I love knowing that even though I didn’t have time to hand-make a gift, someone else did. And that artist, that maker, put their heart and soul into their craft.

Who else finds themselves drawn to locally hand-made markets and fairs? I have found that whenever I travel, shopping locally helps me appreciate the people and the culture better. Then, once I feel a connection to the locals, I can’t help but fall in love with the location. This is true domestically and internationally. When we appreciate the people, we can better appreciate the place.

So, I invite you. Come meet our locals in Helena, Montana. We’re passionate about this place and the things that we create here.

Here are a few of my favorite shops in Helena, MT that feature local artists and makers:

Frayed Sew
JMACs Pottery
Birds & Beasleys
Imagine Designs
The Herb & Garden
Holter Museum of Art
