There’s so many wonderful things to do in Helena, Montana this summer. It was pretty tough to narrow our list down. If you’re en route between Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park via Helena, you’re timing may be perfect to check out one of these events.
#10: Out to Lunch
Thursdays through the Summer
Out to Lunch takes place at the Great Northern Town Center amphitheater. Enjoy a delicious lunch from food vendors or bring your own. Sometimes lunch can be a bit boring and we love that Out to Lunch gives you a great excuse to get out to the Great Northern Town Center to soak up some sun and tunes. Thursdays, 11:30-1:30, June 4 to August 27.
#9: Last Chance Stampede & Fair
July 22 to 25
Come on out for the rodeo, see 4H animals and ride a carnival classic — it’s the Last Chance Stampede & Fair. Wednesday’s opening night features the one, the only Martina McBride! Throughout the years the fair has become bigger and better and we can’t wait to see what’s next.
#8: Tizer Garden’s Annual Fairy & Wizard Festival
Tizer Garden’s Fair & Wizard Festival is a must for any young fairy, princess or wizard! Entertainment, food vendors, crafters and much more. If you have a child who is anywhere from 2 to 10, this event needs to be your #1.
# 7 ½: Symphony Under the Stars
July 18 (&19)
Listening to the Helena Symphony, watching the sun set in our big Montana sky and enjoying a picnic – sounds like the Symphony Under the Stars. Making this event even better is that it’s the same day as Chalk-Up Helena and the Montana’s Women’s Triathlon is the next day. Let’s face it, a top 11 list doesn’t sound quite a cool as a top 10 list so this makes a solid choice of 7 ½.
#7: Archie Bray Foundation’s Brickyard Bash
The Brickyard Bash is not to be missed. Mixing the Bray’s unique location, fabulous art and live music this event has a magical feel. It’s an easy choice for a top Helena event of the Summer.
#6: Mount Helena Music Festival
It’s back! And, we can’t wait to hang out at Women’s Park in Downtown Helena and enjoy the Mount Helena Music Festival again. A true Helena asset is back after falling off the programming last year and we’re excited to be able to include it in our top ten events of summer.
Grandstreet Theatre presents its first ever Tuesday in June Event- which celebrates summer with gourmet picnic-style fare and a performance of Ordinary Days. Making our list at #5 this program is exciting because it’s fresh and different and can’t wait to check it out.
#4: Alive @ Five
Wednesdays through the Summer
Wednesdays through the summer in the months of June, July and August visit various parks and locations through Downtown Helena for live music, great food, crafts, family fun. Alive @ Five is a staple in our community and we’re excited that it’s celebrating its 18th Season. Wednesdays, 5-9 pm
#3: Celebrate the Alley
Come kick-off summer at the Reeder’s Alley Block Party. Check out Helena’s new Visitor Information Center, tour the Pioneer Cabin, enjoy live music. Celebrate the first day of no school with your family and friends. Making #3 for a couple reasons, but most of all we love to see the buzz that’s being generated in this Helena landmark.
# 2: Mondays at the Myrna: “Soundtracks and Roadways”
Mondays through the Summer
Even a quick look at the Myrna Loy summer schedule will prove that Mondays at the Myrna is going to be a great series to enjoy this summer. Funk, folk and electro-pop, Mondays at the Myrna makes our list at #2 because it broadens our horizons. Check out the complete line up on their web site.
